Memorial Day 2014

The first stop of the day, was to the cemetery.  We bring lilac blossoms every year.  Delta and Emma helped Daddy put them by the headstones.  Jayden and Katia played with the cousins.
Then it was off to the farm.  After we ate, it was time to explore.

Delta found a roly-poly.

This bat was flying around the pond.

Katia loved the root beer and chocolate sheet cake.

Adventures in Root Beer

Tony finally got the chance to make Homemade Root Beer.  I got him the bottler about three years ago, along with some caps.

This past Christmas I got him some new bottles that were smaller.  6 oz.
Saturday morning we started the process.

After mixing, the kids made an assembly line to get them bottled and put in the cooler to "cook".
For the next 36 hours, they watched it and recorded the temperature.  Then added some ice for the cool down process.

End of Kindergarten

Today  was the kindergarten Program.
Such a fun time.
Delta and Emma were really ready to participate.
The moment they woke up they  were asking when they could go to school.
Needless to say, it sure made 11:30 seem like forever away!
They both decided to wear church dresses, and I let them wear their sandals to school.
I am quite against letting them wear open-toed shoes to school, but since they were not going to be outside for recess, I decided it would be okay.

What a Scare!

The Police station is right across the street from the school!

Yesterday morning was super busy.  We were getting kids ready for school and out the door.  Jayden left at 8:40.  Katia was about to leave at 8:50 when the phone rang.  It was a reverse 911 call saying the Elementary school was on  lock-down.
Talk about Freaking Out!!
Jayden was already gone, I told Katia, "Never Mind.  You are coming to running with me!"
We got the girls all ready to go to the church.  I was babysitting this morning.
As soon as we were ready to go, we got another call saying that the lock-down was lifted.  I told Katia that she WAS going to school. (I figured that it would be better to keep everyone's schedule the same.) Poor girl, she was so upset to miss playing with the kids.  But luckily her cousins were walking by at the same time, so I sent her with them.  That helped.

As the morning went on, the story came to light.  A man came into the ER at the hospital next door to the school.  No other patients were in the waiting room.  Two Adult Probation Officers were there on a separate matter.  When they tried talking to him, he pointed a gun at one, so the officer shot him.  He was then stabilized, and flown out to another hospital.  The school was locked down just a precaution.

I'm not sure why, but even though I KNEW everything was okay and safe, I still felt uneasy the rest of the day.  I really just wanted to keep the kids  home and watch a movie or read books and snuggle on the couch.  But that would not have helped.
When I took the girls to kindergarten, I noticed that all the blinds in the classrooms were closed.  I saw a friend who teaches there, and what she said, it sounded like this was a great way to see what they had practiced in their drills put to use.  Everyone knew what to do.

I saw Jayden right after that, and he was like, "No big deal, Mom.  Can I go to lunch with my friends now?"
It was the best that it was a crazy busy day.  I helped in Delta and Emma's class.  Katia had a dance recital.  Jayden and Daddy went to the Father's and Son's camp out.  So it was a good and busy day.  I ended the night by reading.

Sir Spoil-Her-Highness Strikes Again

I am spoiled!  Incredibly spoiled.
Not only did Sir Spoil-Her-Highness and the kids make breakfast, but also dinner, and did all the dishes.

Finally got everyone (but me) looking at the camera!

And for dinner, Stuffed Pork Loin!  Yummy! Pin It

Don't Rain on Our Parade

It sure was a cold, cloudy day. It started out on a bad note.  Miss D threw up after before breakfast.  We figured it was because she waited too long to eat breakfast.  But then she threw up again before the parade.

Miss K was so excited to be in the parade.  After getting dressed warmly, we arrived and began looking for the rest of the crew.  Luckily they were positioned in front of a city bus, so the girls we climbing on to stay warm.  It, thankfully, never did rain on us.

We did come home with quite a haul of candy!

Final Soccer Game

The soccer season is always a crazy one.  2 games a week.  And it has to rain on at least one day.  However, it sure is fun to watch the kids have fun.  It is great for them (especially the 5 and 6 year olds).  Running, the friends, the fresh air after the winter.
Poor Miss D was still feeling sick, so she missed the last game.

Sister Crookston was the BEST coach!

Family Celebration

After the baptism, we went to the park for a picnic.  It was such a nice day.  Super warm and sunny.  The kids played and played.  I was so hoping it would wear the kids out, but no.  They had a blast with cousins.  That was a great way to spend the rest of the day!
For Christmas 2 and a half years ago, Tony got me a wireless remote for my camera.  It works super far away (we tested it to about 50 yards away, from outside, to the camera sitting on the table in the house).  I love it.  I don't use it very often, because I don't always have the tripod with me.  I'll use it at the fireworks when we have the tripod and we don't want to touch the camera.

So I just set up the camera and randomly took pictures.  I'll do this during the summer, or FHE, or when friends are over to play.

But then the kids realized what was happening.

I used my Silhouette to cut the CTR shied out of Sugar Sheets.  They did melt by the next day, but were still fine.
